What do you think of Derek’s cosplay? Would you have been able to figure it out (even if we DID NOT post the photos)? At WonderCon, Derek took a more “cerebral” approach to his Friday cosplay — he played JJ Abrams and the mystery box from JJ’s Ted Talk. Obscure, to be sure. I was sure no one would get it. But they did. Which was awesome…..Saturday, though, he went a different route, eschewing the buttoned-down Abrams style, and instead going full-on Red Speedo Mulder.
For those who are unfamiliar with the reference, in season two of the original X-Files series, there’s an episode where Krycek goes to talk to Mulder while Mulder is swimming laps in the now-famous red swimsuit. The recent X-Files Revival series put Duchovny back in his red “Duchovnies” (as Derek calls them) as a shout-out to the fans. The truth is definitely out there.
Derek went all-in on his two cosplays, as he searched out some of his favorites from WonderCon.
