Darth Vader’s Lightsaber From ‘Empire Strikes Back’ Up for Auction

Darth Vader’s lightsaber that was used in the climactic duel in Cloud City where he tells Luke “I am your father” is among the highlights of the Ultimate Star Wars Auction to be held by Heritage Auctions on Nov. 12. The saber was also used in ‘Return of the Jedi.’

It’s expected to get at least $1 million, but will probably go higher — perhaps much higher.  In July, Luke Skywalker’s lightsaber from Empire sold for $3.75 million…. of course, that high price might be due to the fact that it also included Skywalker’s severed hand. A previous Vader lightsaber sale from Empire sold for $3.6 million last year.

Some other props also on sale at the auction include dueling lightsabers wielded by Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi and Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker in “Revenge of the Sith.” Sadly, those two props are expected to go for around $10,000 apiece.

An EE-3 carbine blaster used by Boba Fett in “The Empire Strikes Back” is expected to go for over $100,000.

Some of the more amazing props, in our estimation, are a Yoda puppet hand-used by Frank Oz from “The Empire Strikes Back,” C-3PO actor Anthony Daniels’ signed, personal third-draft screenplay for the original 1977 “Star Wars” and a TIE Fighter pilot helmet from “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.”
