JAMES GUNN IS BACK AS THE DIRECTOR OF GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 3!

This is GREAT news for fans of Guardians of the Galaxy!!!! It’s my favorite of all the Marvel Cinematic Universe films, and I couldn’t be happier. JAMES GUNN IS BACK! Yeah, baby–he’s done is repentance and contrition tour, he’s made good with Disney, he’s been a good boy, and HE’S BACK!

It only makes sense…. they’re using his script, he’s a co-producer on the new Avengers: Endgame film, and…. he’s the best guy for the job.

Here’s what DEADLINE is reporting: “The decision to rehire Gunn –he was fired last July by Disney after alt-right journalists made public a fusillade of decade old social media missives that made light of pedophilia and rape — was one that was mulled and actually made months ago, following conversations with Disney studio leadership and the team at Marvel Studios. Why the change of heart? After the firing, Walt Disney Studios president Alan Hornmet with Gunn on multiple occasions to discuss the situation. Persuaded by Gunn’s public apology and his handling of the situation after, Horn decided to reverse course and reinstate Gunn.”

Hey — let that be a lesson to all of us: lose gracefully. James Gunn did not burn down the House of Mouse when he got fired. He didn’t disparage or smack-talk Marvel. Nope. He handled it EXTREMELY well.

Here’s what The Hollywood Reporter is saying: “In the weeks after firing Gunn, Disney began putting feelers out for new directors. But by mid-fall, the search seemed to have petered out, with many thinking that the project was on the backburner. What almost no one knew was that Marvel/Disney had gone back to Gunn and made a deal … in secret, according to insiders. After the firing, Gunn moved on to Warner Bros. and DC to write and direct The Suicide Squad, which has Idris Elba set to star. Gunn plans on doing films, with The Suicide Squad coming first.”

.

Here’s our take on this.… THANK GOD for James Gunn getting his job back. Why? Two reasons: First, HE’S THE BEST MAN for the job. Guardians ain’t Guardians without Gunn. But here’s the second reason: FINALLY, there’s a glimmer of hope that our culture will FINALLY allow second acts…. it will finally allow people to ask for forgiveness without forever punishing them…. AND maybe, just maybe, the things we’ve done and said 10 to 20 years ago won’t forever derail our lives. I mean, for crying out loud, who among us hasn’t said or done something STUPID in our lives? And this should apply to anyone from any profession or any political persuasion. People are sure to make some big, dumb political statement about this, but my money is on FORGIVENESS and moving forward.

And James Gunn!
