Beer At Disneyland?! Walt Will Either Spin In His Grave–Or Raise a Glass And Toast!

Beer in Disneyland? Yup, it’s happening. And you can bet there’s gonna be a whole heck of a lot of backlash–along with a whole heck of a lot of celebrating! As Deadline says, the Happiest Place on Earth might be getting a little happier. The announcement of the new Oga’s Cantina at Black Spire Outpost, part of Disneyland’s GIGANTIC Star Wars land addition, was chock full of details about Oga Garra, cantina treats, and RX-24, the former StarSpeeder 3000 pilot droid we first met I Star Tours. But it’s the announcement that guests could “taste the best drinks in the galaxy” that got everyone’s attention.

According to Deadline: “Although the theme park already offers alcohol in its adjacent Disney California Adventure park (and in its exclusive private Club 33 at Disneyland itself), the public liquor sales mark a first in the park’s 63-year history. The initial rollout of liquor sales will take place at the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge attraction in the Oga’s Cantina that’s part of the complex, scheduled to open next year. The menu will offer beer, wine and outer space theme cocktails.” Read the full Deadline post here.

Here are some of the predictable online comments:

“Walt Disney would be spinning in his grave if he found out Disney was serving alcohol inside his family-friendly theme park, Disneyland! He has a very specific moratorium on serving alcohol in Disneyland—except in Club 33—because Disneyland is supposed to be for kids.”
“You mean spinning in his cryogenic vessel?
“He also said “Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world. I take that to mean keep up with the times also, this isn’t 1955, Star Wars attraction will open in 2019, 64 years after it opens all things change, and I think he knew that.”
“Before you all get into an uproar… They’ve served alcohol at EPCOT Center for as long as I can remember, if not since the park opened, as well at select locations on Disney property.”
Our opinion? Drinking is the only way to endure it’s a small world!!! And why should the Pirates have all the fun?
