This bumps the Star Wars vs. Star Trek battle up to a whole new level…STAR TREK BEYOND is having its red carpet premier at San Diego Comic-Con, taking place July 20 at the Embarcadero Marina Park South, and will feature appearances by cast members and a live performance of Michael Giacchino’s film score by the San Diego Symphony Orchestra. Remember last year’s big Star Wars concert and fireworks show? Yeah, it’s taking place right there. I bet fireworks will also be happening.

In addition, JJ Abrams confirmed that everyone attending tonight’s fan event would be given credentials to attend the screening in San Diego. The Gala is happening Wednesday, July 20, the same day as the annual preview night that kicks the convention off. Star Trek Beyond then hits theaters wide on July 22.
