As the scare season approaches, the scare movies will be dropping like rotten apples from a tree. We’ll be keeping tab of them (at least the good ones worth mentioning) right here on THE SCARE GUY (the Scarier Side of THE CON GUY). Next up is THE VAULT starring James Franco as a bank worker who faces down thieves with the help (apparently) of some sketchy, ghosty, monster-y type characters. It goes out in limited release September 1. Here’s the film’s synopsis:
“In order to save their brother Michael’s life, the Dillon sisters, Leah and Vee have organized a bank robbery, but when the upstairs vault doesn’t have enough money to cover Michael’s debt, on the advice of Assistant Bank Manager Ed Maas, they drill into the downstairs vault. But the bank’s basement hides a terrible secret and before long, the Dillons have to choose whether to face the police outside or the terrible supernatural forces in the vault below.”
Now, I guess James Franco is a polarizing actor — people either hate him or love him. We kinda like Franco — he may be weird, but weird people are usually a lot more fun than straight-laced suburban mall-hangers anyway.
Check out these first two trailers — the second one is the red band trailer, so turn down the sound if you’re watching and wasting time at work.
Here’s the RED BAND trailer (mainly for an F-bomb or two).
