Carrie Fisher’s Brother Says that Star Wars Episode IX Will Have A Lot of Carrie–and Leia!

When beloved actress and Star Wars icon Carrie Fisher passed away two years ago, the world thought we had seen the last of our beloved princess…. but her brother, Todd Fisher, is now saying that there will be a “significant” amount of Princess Leia footage used….. YES YES YES!

Here’s what we just heard from EW:

“There’s a lot of minutes of footage. I don’t mean just outtakes,” Todd Fisher said during a recent appearance on Good Morning America. “This is unused, new content that could be woven into the storyline. That’s what’s going to give everybody such a great kick. It’s going to look like it was meant to be. Like it was shot yesterday.” Fisher was on the morning show on the two-year anniversary of his sister’s death to talk about his family’s efforts to continue sharing the work of the author/actress, including as-yet-unpublished work.

After the death of Carrie Fisher, speculation had been that Episode IX, which is the final installment in the Skywalker Saga, would begin years after the death of Princess/General Leia Organa. But now, this news is sure to generate tons of excitement.

And let me tell you, after the polarizing reception of The Last Jedi and the lackluster performance of Solo: A Star Wars Story (which was actually pretty good!), this franchise needs a jolt of excitement. Let’s hope that J.J. Abrams can come in and fix the mess that Rian Johnson left. I’m not one of those haters–I love all the Star Wars films (for the most part) except for The Last Jedi. Don’t get me wrong–The Last Jedi had some stand-out awesome scenes, such as the throne-room light saber seen (it was great!!!), and even the battle of Crait. But it’s hard to forgive the emasculation of Luke Skywalker…. or the “final outcome” of Luke Skywalker. Or the dumb-ass [FILL IN THE BLANK] of Luke Skywalker…. and we don’t need to re-hash the needless stupidity of the casino scene.

Okay, that said — We’re excited for as much Leia (and Carrie) as we can get. Because in all seriousness, I wasn’t too fired-up excited to see the conclusion…. Last Jedi killed more than Luke (oops — spoilers), it also killed my excitement for the final chapter…. now THAT’S an accomplishment I never thought possible.

So Princess Leia has arrived to save the day!!!! As she should… she’s a Skywalker. She is, perhaps, the LAST Skywalker. She’s the true Last Jedi. Can’t wait to see her again.
