2015 might very well go down as the year that Cosplay overtook fan culture. Much has been written about the pros, cons and challenges of this sub-culture within the larger fan universe. Its rise has been well-documented here at The Con Guy and elsewhere. A perfect storm of cultural shifts has produced this moment: a proliferation of super-hero films; the increasing popularity of TV and publishing fandoms; the near universal availability and influence of social media; and the return of giant franchise films like Star Wars and Jurassic World—it all adds up to THIS moment.
