ENDGAME TICKET SALES CRASH FANDANGO, AMC, ATOM; LONG LINES AT THEATERS, PANIC ALL AROUND!

Thanos just caused another round of panic across the globe. Tickets for the sure-to-be-MEGA blockbuster AVENGERS: ENDGAME went on sale today, and unsurprisingly, caused widespread crashes to ticketing websites such as Fandango, AMC, Atom, and others. A spokesperson for Atom told CNN Business that “Endgame” has sold three times more tickets on its site in the first hour of pre-sale than “Avengers: Infinity War” did last year. WOW!

Here’s the “trailer” that accompanied this morning’s ticket announcement:

Apparently, the queue for online tickets gave wait times up to an hour for some people. AN HOUR! Here’s what many users saw when logging in to buy tickets on ATOM.

And here’s another wrinkle…. many ticket-buyers got tired of the wait, so they quickly headed to theaters. At the AMC 16 in Burbank, California, there was quite a long line of ticket-buyers waiting to snag their opening night Endgame tickets.

UPROXX.com said, “It sounded like a nightmare for everyone, whether trying to purchase tickets through Fandango, Movie Tickets, Atom, the Alamo Drafthouse’s website (which is what I tried to do — after 20-something minutes, I was finally successful), or, uh, does Moviefone still exist? Et tu, Moviefone guy? Even co-directors Joe and Anthony Russo got in on the on-sale excitement, tweeting a quote from the film: “It’s not about how much we lost, it’s about how much we have left.” Hopefully your local theater has some opening night tickets available; otherwise, you may want to stay off the internet until that weekend.”

And get this–according to Reuters, Avengers: Endgame advance tickets Tuesday surpassed the last two Star Wars films, and some tickets even appeared on eBay with asking prices of up to $500 each!!! Not THATS’ insane. We haven’t seen this type of hysteria in ….. EVER.

Fandango says that Endgame has climbed to the top of its first-day U.S. sales, becoming the all-time first-day sales champion, beating Star Wars: The Force Awakens–in only six hours.

Fandango’s new list of top five first day presellers is as follows:

  1. Avengers: Endgame (2019)
  2. Star Wars: The Force Awakens(2015)
  3. Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017)
  4. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story(2016)
  5. Avengers: Infinity War(2018)
