DONE DEAL! KEEPING THE “SAN DIEGO” in “COMIC-CON” — COMIC-CON INTERNATIONAL RENEWS DEAL TO STAY IN SAN DIEGO THROUGH 2021

With this year’s convention gearing up and getting ready to launch, word comes that the organizers from Comic-Con International have “sealed a deal” to keep the “San Diego” in “Comic-Con.” From Deadline.com we have the following:

Comic-Con International and the City of San Diego have sealed a deal that will keep Comic-Con in town through 2021. The renewal comes ahead of the start of this year’s convention, which runs July 20-23 at the San Diego Convention Center and an ever-growing list of surrounding venues. It’s the 48th edition of the confab.”

This is great news considering there seems to always be rumblings and grumblings about moving the convention to someplace else, especially since it seems to have outgrown its current site. But c’mon folks, do we really think they want to move San Diego Comic-Con out of San Diego…. that would be like taking New York City out of New York State…. (okay, not the best analogy, but we’re writing on the fly here).

As everyone knows, there’s been much speculation (and mild threats) to move the giant fan convention elsewhere.
