NEW YORK COMIC CON 2016 — THE BEST TELEVISION SCREENINGS AND TV PANELS

As Hurricane Matthew tears up the lower East Coast heading north, New York Comic Con tears up the upper East Coast, bringing 180,000 fans to the Javits Center in Midtown Manhattan, New York City. According to its website, “New York Comic Con is the second largest pop culture convention in America and the only one that takes place in the comic book, publishing, media and licensing capital of the world — Gotham City.” (Licensing capital?)

This week, we tackle this monster convention, with our picks of the best shows, panels, events and parties. Here, we give you our choices for the best TV screenings and TV panels. Sit back and watch…and then check out the more detailed lists below.

 

THURSDAY, OCT. 6

“Ash vs. Evil Dead: (STARZ) — 11:00 AM – 12:15 PM, Hammerstein Ballroom – 311 W 34th St

STARZ Original Series “Ash vs Evil Dead”  Panel and Screening- Bruce Campbell (executive producer/Ash), Lucy Lawless (Ruby), Ray Santiago (Pablo), Dana DeLorenz…

“The Exorcist” (Fox) — 12:45 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at the Hammerstein Ballroom
Geena Davis and executive producer Jeremy Slater will take a break from filming to join fans at NYCC and present a special sneak preview of the thrilling third episode, before it airs the following Friday. A moderated discussion and audience Q&A will follow.

“Doctor Who” (BBC) — 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Javits Center, Main Stage
Take a journey with the Eleventh Doctor (Matt Smith), and companions River Pond (Alex Kingston) and Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman). Join them in a panel titled “Tales from the TARDIS” as they talk about bowties, Daleks and more.

“Impractical Jokers” (truTV) — 3:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. at the Javits Center, Main Stage
Join Joe Gatto, James “Murr” Murray, Brian “Q” Quinn and Sal Vulcano for a panel with some behind-the-scenes stories, and find out how they created a hit TV show that spawned sold-out national tours, popular podcasts and even their own cruise! The panel concludes with a Q&A.

FRIDAY, OCT. 7

“Stranger Things” (Netflix) — 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Javits Center, Main Stage
Join stars of the series Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour for a panel entitled “Inside The Upside Down” as they talk about the monsters, secrets behind-the-scenes, and of course, eggos.

“People of Earth” (TBS) — 1:45 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. at the Javits Center, Room 1A10
Get an inside look at “People of Earth” with Conan O’Brien, Greg Daniels and creator David Jenkins. The new half-hour single-camera comedy series involves a support group for alien abductees. Join series star Wyatt Cenac for a screening of the pilot episode followed by a Q&A.

‘Doctor Who’ Cast Interview (BBC), 6:15 PM – 6:30 PM, NYCC Live Stage – Booth #154
The current cast and crew of “Doctor Who” take us inside the latest series.

“Archer” (FX) — 6:45 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. at the Hammerstein Ballroom
Come see an exclusive sneak peek at the upcoming eighth season and then join the voice cast of H. Jon Benjamin, Aisha Tyler, Jessica Walter, Chris Parnell, Amber Nash and Lucky Yates, plus creator Adam Reed, executive producer Matt Thompson and co-executive producer Casey Willis, as they discuss bringing the Emmy-winning animated series to life.

SATURDAY, OCT. 8

“Gotham” (Fox) —  11:30 a.m. – 12:30 at the Javits Center, Main Stage
David Mazouz, Erin Richards and Robin Lord Taylor give a behind-the-scenes look at Gotham’s underworld.

 “The Expanse” and “The Magicians” (Syfy) — 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Hammerstein Ballroom
Join the cast and producers for a sneak peek at the second seasons of Syfy’s hit dramas, both based on successful book series.

“Midnight, Texas” (NBC) — 4 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. at at the Javits Center, Room 1A06
Join cast members François Arnaud, Sarah Ramos, Arielle Kebbel, Peter Mensah, Parisa Fitz-Henley and Dylan Bruce, along with executive producers Monica Owusu-Breen and David Janollari for a discussion and Q&A session. Also featured is a preview an exclusive screening of the pilot episode of “Midnight, Texas.”

“The Walking Dead” (AMC) — 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at The Theater at Madison Square Garden
Join the cast and executive producers for a panel where they will discuss the shocking finale of season 6 as well as show a sneak peek at Season 7.

“Marvel’s Iron Fist” (Netflix) — 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Javits Center, Main Stage
Moderated by Marvel’s Head of Television Jeph Loeb, join the cast of the new Netflix original series in their first-ever appearance as they answer questions and debut footage from the highly-anticipated show. “Marvel’s Iron Fist” is scheduled to premiere in 2017.

“Outcast” (Cinemax) — 8:00 p.m. at the Javits Center, Room 1A06
Creator Robert Kirkman will be joined by cast members Patrick Fugit, Reg E. Cathey and Brent Spiner.

SUNDAY, OCT. 9

“Falling Water” (USA Network) — 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the Javits Center, Room 1A10
The  upcoming series “Falling Water” explores the lives of three strangers who realize that they are each dreaming separate parts of a single shared dream, and soon uncover a dark secret to their ordeal. Join the cast and creators for a panel discussion and Q&A.

“Timeless” (NBC) — 12:15 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. at the Javits Center, Room 1A06
Preview an exclusive screening of “Timeless’” second episode and join  Matt Lanter, Malcolm Barrett, Goran Višnjić and co-creator and executive producer Eric Kripke for a Q&A session. Timeless premieres this fall on Mondays on NBC.

“Legion” (FX) — 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Hammerstein Ballroom
Get an exclusive sneak peek at “Legion” from showrunner Noah Hawley (“Fargo”), followed by a moderated discussion and audience Q&A. Inspired by the character from Marvel’s “X-Men” comics, “Legion” is the story of David Haller (played by Dan Stevens), a troubled young man who may be more than human. In attendance at NYCC will be Hawley, executive producer Lauren Shuler Donner and head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb, plus cast members including Stevens, Rachel Keller, Aubrey Plaza and more.

“Paranormal Lockdown” (Destination America) — 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Javits Center, Room 1A10
Join the hosts of “Paranormal Lockdown” Nick Groff and Katrina Weidman as they break from filming to talk about their ultimate ghost adventures. The panel will include never-before-seen footage, untold stories from their creepiest investigations and clips from Destination America’s next history-making Halloween special “Paranormal Lockdown: The Black Monk House.”
