Wednesday is easy: walk the floor then see the pilot screenings. But here’s our choices for the panels we’d want to see on Thursday.

From Fan to Creator: Goal-Setting for Creative Types
Room 23ABC
10 – 11 a.m.
If we get there in time, we’re gonna’ jump into this little gem of a panel. For all of us who fancy ourselves “creative types,” this is a great kick-in-the-pants. Description: Douglas Neff (Epic Win! The Geek’s Guide to the Journey from Fan to Creator) will give you simple and proven techniques for setting, working on, and achieving your goals. Whether you want to write your first novel, draw your own comic, or shoot your documentary film, you’ll walk away from this workshop with the energy and tools you need to bring your dream to life.

**NOTE: We’re skipping the Hall H Dreamworks Animation panel. It’s got Justin Timberlake, Chris Hardwick (beginning his millions of duties for the weekend), and Anna Kendrick, but we suspect that’s an overnight campout to get in, and, quite frankly, ain’t nuthin in Hall H worth camping out for.

Richard Hatch

Relaunching the Battlestar Franchise
Room 6BCF
10:30 – 11:30 a.m.
Battlestar Galactica is one of my all-time favorite shows, and each year, I end up missing this annual Richard Hatch-led panel. Not this year. I lucked into a downtown hotel, so I’m there! Universal is coming up with a brand-new feature film and this panel promises to give us news and updates about the progress…it’s got big shoes to fill, especially standing in the shadow of the much-loved Syfy reboot. Regardelss, I love showing up at this just to restoke some Battlestar fandom.

**NOTE: Snowden? Really? Hall H is hosting a film about Edward Snowden? Okay, it’s Oliver Stone (groooan), and it’s got some star power (Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Scott Eastwood, Zachary Quinto), but let’s put this in the snoooooozer category. What a waste of good Hall H space.

Geek & Sundry

The Geek & Sundry Panel
Indigo Ballroom, Hilton Bayfront
Noon – 1 p.m.
I love me some Felicia Day! (wow, that sounds pervy)….She’s the best. Get the inside scoop on some of your favorite shows and learn about what exciting new stuff Geek & Sundry has in store for the future. Game on!

The Business of Creativity: Can Comics Find a Balance?
Room 4
12:30 – 1:30 p.m.
If we get our fill of Felicia, we’ll head over to this panel. The business side of comics, films, and fandon is something that always gets my attention.

Marvel

Marvel: Breaking Into Comics the Marvel Way
Room 25ABC
1 – 2 p.m.
The title says it all: Join talent scout Rickey Purdin and a host of Marvel talent to find out how to get your foot in the door and make your job Marvel. Ooooooor…..

The Nerdist Panel With Chris Hardwick
Indigo Ballroom
1 – 2 p.m.
Here’s the perfect recipe: The humor of Nerdist and the libations of the bar in the Hilton. It’s a perfect recipe for some fun.

1986: There Can Be Only One
Room 5 AB
3 – 4 p.m.
Seeing as this is the 30th Anniversary of Aliens, and seeing as this annual panel is always a blast, we figured “Why Not?” Starring Ashley E. Miller (writer, Big Trouble in Little China remake), Jose Molina (Firefly, Agent Carter), Steve Melching (Star Wars Rebels, The Clone Wars), Glen C. Oliver (Ain’t It Cool News), Robert Meyer Burnett (Agent Cody Banks, ST: TNG Blu-rays), and Charles de Lauzirika (Crave, The Alien Anthology). Moderated by Scott Mantz (Access Hollywood). There be whales here! Presented by the all-new Geek Magazine.

Nerdist TV: The Boundary Pushers
Room 6A
5:30 – 6:30 p.m.
It’s gonna be a hard choice between this panel and the next one (Luke Cage!) But because we think there’s gonna be a mad rush to get into Luke Cage, this Nerdist TV panel is the next best thing. Moderator Alicia Lutes (Nerdist’s managing editor, co-host/creator of Fangirling) and several of your favorite TV creators talk about how some of the small screen’s greatest, most shocking, and exciting turns have paved the way for a better, more binge-worthy future.

Luke Cage

Netflix – Marvel’s Luke Cage
Ballroom 20
5:45 – 6:45 PM
This is a loooong time coming. Netflix has been noticeably absent from the San Diego convention, although it routinely makes it the New York Comic Con – maybe because it’s filmed in New York. But regardless, we’re stoked about seeing Marvel’s Luke Cage! The cast of the upcoming Marvel series make their first Comic-Con appearance with a panel discussion and the premiere of exclusive footage from the show which debuts September 30.

Sausage Party Filmmaker Conversation
Horton Grand Theatre
5:45 – 6:30 p.m. (screening afterward)
If you don’t mind taking a hike away from the convention center, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg have a (somewhat adult) treat. The world’s first R-rated CG animated comedy. The film is about a group of supermarket products on a quest to discover the truth about their existence and what really happens when they become chosen to leave the grocery story. Not only will you hear all about it as Seth and Evan lead a conversation, you can see the movie for yourself. Following the conversation, stay for the pre-party and screening at Horton Plaza.

Being a Nerd for a Living: IGN Talks Movies, TV and Comics
Room 7AB
6 – 7 p.m.
Too many good things are happening. But this one looks promising: Join the crew from IGN to hear how they turned their nerdy passions into careers, and then stick around for the fan Q&A. Panelists include editors Joshua Yehl (comics), Jim Vejvoda (movies), Terri Schwartz (movies/TV), Scott Collura (movies), Eric Goldman (TV), Alanah Pearce (toys & culture), and Naomi Kyle (host).

Comics on Comics: Live
Room 26AB
8:30 – 10 p.m.
Laugh it up, Fuzz Ball! Comedians Clayton Thomas (Family Time) and Dani Fernandez (Krilling it) and creators Geoffrey Golden (Devastator), Scott Joseph (The Warren Hope), and Jacqueline Lopez (The Comic Book Show) talk about the latest in comic book pop culture! Close night one of Comic-Con laughing with your friends!
